How to keep flowers blooming longer?
We share tips on how to keep flowers blooming and beautiful for longer.
Trim the tips of the stems
When you receive cut flowers, don't forget to trim the tips. Do this with a secateur or a sharp knife. Cut diagonally, at a 45-degree angle, so the area at the end of the stem will be larger, it won't get covered when it gets wet, and the flower will get more water. You need to trim the tips every 2-3 days.
Soak without leaves
It is very important to remove leaves that will soak into the water. Leaves promote rot and hinder the blossoming, causing the flowers to wilt more quickly. The rotting process promotes the growth of bacteria in the vase, so this is a very important aspect.
Cold water
All flowers do not like warm water. It is important to soak the flowers in cold, clean water. It should be changed, as well as shortening the stems, every 2-3 days. Also, wash the vase thoroughly. Usually, flowers need a little less than half a vase. However, the harder the stems, the more water they need, for example, hydrangeas or roses need a full vase. Only a little water is needed for flowers such as tulips, gerberas or
buttercups.
A cool and darker place
It is not for nothing that florists in flower shops usually store flowers in refrigerators. Flowers usually do not like direct sunlight and heat. Therefore, when you receive flowers at home, you should store them in an appropriate place. Do not place the bouquet next to fruit, as they emit ethylene gas, which will cause the bouquet to wilt faster.
